LAHORE – The City received scattered showers during Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, providing much needed respite to the Lahorites from the prevailing oppressive weather on the eve of annual religious festival.

Rains, overcast conditions and continuously blowing winds caused considerable decrease in the mercury level during the day and at nighttime.

People come out of their houses in the evening on Eid day and Taru (day after Eid) to enjoy somewhat pleasant weather conditions. Major parks and picnic spots attracted a large number of people including women and children in the evening on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Huge rush was witnessed at Bagh-e-Jinnah, Gulshan Park, Jillani Park, Jallo Park, Lahore Zoo and other picnic spots in the City. Massive traffic jams were witnessed on roads in the close vicinity of these parks.

Scattered rains added to the woes of motorists and pedestrians as rainwater inundated on portions of roads and roadsides. Inundated rainwater on roadsides and slippery conditions of roads caused frequent traffic jams on a number of important arteries. Several incidents of skidding of motorcycles were also reported from various parts of the City.  On Wednesday, maximum and minimum temperature in the City was recorded 33 degree Celsius.
