MULTAN–Former prime minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani claimed that even if all political powers unite against the PPP, they cannot defeat his party in the upcoming general elections. Talking to the media before leaving for Lahore here at Multan Airport on Tuesday, he dispelled the impression that the PPP would benefit from Nawaz League-PTI rivalry.

“Those who are giving this impression must not forget that both of them were on the same platform against Abdul Qadir Gilani in recent NA-151 by-election but yet they failed to harm the PPP,” he added. He said that all powers involved in “conspiracies” against th egovernment would have to face humiliating defeat.

To a query, he said that the president was given immunity under Article 248 of the Constitution and writing a letter to Swiss authorities would be violation of the Constitution. He said that he refused to write letter because he had taken oath to abide by the Constitution.
