LAKKI MARWAT - A robber was killed in exchange of fire with security guards of Lucky Cement Factory at Darra Pezu town, police said on Wednesday.
“As many as three robbers attempted to enter the premises of Lucky Cement Factory when they were intercepted by the security guards on duty,” said an official source on Wednesday. He said that both the sides exchanged fires. As a result a robber identified as Amjad was killed while his other accomplices managed their escape good.
The local police registered a case under relevant section of law on the complaint of a factory worker Muhammad Nawaz and started investigation.
Meanwhile, two people were killed in separate firing and road related incidents during the days of Eidul Fitr.
The first shooting incident took place in Wanda Jandar in the area limits of Dadiwala police station. The police said that Azizur Rehman was sitting in the guestroom of Haji Nazir Ahmad when Kalimullah and his father Rab Nawaz came there and opened fires.
They said that Nazir Ahmad died instantly while the killers escaped from the scene. They said that one of the accused Kalimullah was pressing Nazir Ahmad’s son Naseer Muhammad for forced friendship. “On Naseer’s refusal Kalimullah went to their hujra (guestroom) and opened fire killing Azaizur Rehman on the spot,” they maintained.
Meanwhile, a motorcyclist was killed when his bike collided with a motorcar on Indus highway in the limits of Dadiwala police station. Name of the deceased could not be ascertained immediately.
The local police took the damaged car and motorcycle into their custody and registered a case against car driver.
Militant held
Meanwhile, the city police arrested a militant during a raid in Lakki city.  Acting on a tip-off, a police contingent led by SHO Asad Ali carried out a raid on a suspected hideout and arrested a militant identified as Imtiaz.
A police official said that the arrested militant belonged to Kachi Kamar village of the district and was a prayer leader in Darra Adamkhel. “He had come to the district to celebrate Eid with his relatives but was caught by police,” he maintained.
Official claimed that the militant, who had alleged links with the banned outfit TTP, was wanted by the Kohat police in the cases of terrorism and subversive activities.
