Govt asked to write off agri loans

Former MNA Riaz Fatyana has demanded that the government should write off agricultural loans of the farmers of Kamalia as their crops had been eroded by floodwater.
He also demanded compensation to the people who had been affected due to flood in the river belt areas. He was talking to newsmen at his residence in Kamalia.
Meanwhile, villagers told the newsmen that localities of Tara Haveli, Mouza Baghar, Chak 58/GB, 58/3 GB, Chak Nai Abadi, Mouza Bubb, Shahbal, Chak Sher Singh, Jhalar Saglay and Khaki Darbar Shah have came under rive Ravi floodwater. Additional district Collector Malik Khadim Jeelani said that the people residing near the river had been shifted along with their cattle to other areas while relief centres were working for 24 hours to help the displaced population and catering to their needs. He also said that dyke along river Ravi from Chichawatni Bridge to Head Sidhnai was also being strengthened by the Irrigation Department. DCO Dr Farah Masood directed the EDO education to shift all the affected schools to those areas where the people had been shifted.
She asked the departments concerned to shift all the residents of such localities to safe places where there was danger of flood from river Ravi.
