HAFIZABAD
Captain Hafiz Sarfraz Meer, who embraced Shahadat due to shelling of Indian Army at Shakma Sector (near Skardu) on the Line of Control between Tuesday and Wednesday night, was laid to rest Thursday evening in his native village Jurian with full military honour. The funeral was attended by hundreds of citizens and villagers.
When his body was brought to the village, hundreds of people gathered in the ground of Govt Higher Secondary School Jurian, raised slogans of Allah-o-Akbar, Pak Army and Pakistan Zindabad and profusely showered rose petals on the coffin.
An Army contingent led by Brig Aftab saluted the Shaheed at his grave. Brig Aftab laid floral wreath on the grave on behalf of Chief of Staff of Pakistan Army and Chairman Joint Chief of Staff. He assured Shaheed’s father Retired Subedar Major Ch Mansib Ali Meer that Pak Army would provide all sorts of benefits to his family. Shaheed Capt Sarfraz was unmarried. Ch Mansib said that he was proud of his son for making supreme sacrifice while defending his mother country.
