SHEIKHUPURA/MANDI BAHAUDDIN/TOBA TEK SINGH/BAHAWALPUR

Eight persons including three women were killed and four others injured in separate incidents of enmity, honour killing and mishaps.

According to details, in SHEIKHPUR a labourer was killed while another fell unconscious due to suffocation in village Sattarwala here on Thursday. According to details, the labourers identified as Fareed and Asif were digging a well in a field owned by farmer Ashfaq Ahmad. Unfortunately both fainted due to suffocation and were taken to a nearby hospital where doctor pronounced Fareed dead while the other admitted in precarious condition. The Factory Area Police are looking into the matter.

Similarly in a road accident a woman was killed while two other passengers sustained injuries near Narang-Muridke Road on Thursday. According to details a passenger van when near Tapyala Doost Muhammad while going towards Narang from Muridke collided with a speeding bus coming from the opposite direction. As a result Sobia Bibi died on the spot while two other passengers sustain injuries and were taken to nearby hospital. The Muridke Saddr Police are looking into the matter.

In MANDI BAHAUDDIN, a woman, said to be the Mother of five children, committed suicide by taking poisonous pills. According to details, Sakina Bibi, wife of Ghulam Rasul of village Haigerwal situated in the remit of Paherianwali Police was depressed due to domestic affairs and swallowed fumigating pills. Her condition turned critical and was taken to Rural Health Centre Pahrianwali but she did not recover.

In another incident a boy was killed during crossfire in rival groups occurred in village Baho Manga in the limits of Ranmal Sharif Police. 14-year-old Mudassar died on the spot while the police reached the spot and registered a case.

In TOBA TEK SINGH, a man killed his brother over a minor dispute in Chak 410/JB Chuttiana area here on Thursday.

Muhammad Siddiq and the deceased quarrelled over some domestic issue which provoked the accused. He killed his brother with a sharp chopper and killed him instantly. The police have registered a case.

In another a minor girl died in Kamalia. Deceased seven-year-old daughter of Shah Muhammad of Nadirabad went to a shop on Mamoonkanjun Road where a speeding bus ran over her. She sustained critical wounds and was shifted to THQ Hospital from where doctors referred her to Faisalabad Allied Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

In HAFIZABAD, the dead body of an 80-year-old villager namely Nazir Ahmad Chohan was pulled out from under the debris of his house after eight days.

According to his relations, he was sound asleep in his one room mud-made house in village Mangat Neecha during heavy rain on the night of August 13 when the roof of the room caved in and he was buried under the debris. He was alone in his house. So, no body feel to search him from under the debris. However, some villagers felt foul smell emanating from the debris and they started removing the debris and pulled out the dead body.

Meanwhile, in Bahawalpur 16-year-old girl was killed in the name of honour by his father.

According to the details, 16-year-old Rukhsana, a resident of Wasimabad, a suburban area of Bahawalpur had eloped with her boyfriend. However, a local council (Panchayat) decided that the girl would be married off to the youth with consent but in turn the youth’s sister would be married off to the girl’s brother. At this condition Rukhsana was handed over to her parents.

Another sitting of the Panchayat was due to be held on Sunday (next) wherein Rukhsana will be married off to her lover and the nikkah of youth’s sister to be solemnised with Rukhsana’s brother. But the youth’s family could not make it to the Panchayat despite the fact that its members attempted to contact. In a fit of frustration, father of Rukhsana, Muhammad Bilal shot his daughter death.

He was arrested by the Cantt Police.

In KOT RADHA KISHAN, roof collapse claimed the lives of two brothers in village Mahalam Kalan. Twenty-six-year-old Allah Wasaya along with his brother Muhammad Saleem, 12, was sitting in a room of their house. Suddenly, the roof collapsed. Locals people and rescuers recovered the bodies from under the debris.
