Federal Minister for Commerce Engineer Khuram Dastgir Khan has said that government will resolve business community’s issues on priority basis.
“Pak-China economic corridor would be a turning point in the welfare and prosperity of our nation as a whole and we should be all geared up to grasp this opportunity,” he said while speaking at a meeting held at Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry meeting here on Saturday. GCCI President Khawaja Khalid Hassan, senior vice president Kashif A Aziz, vice president Babu Imtiaz Hussain, president Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce Mian Muhammad Idrees, Chief Executive TDAP S M Munir, Chairman UBG Iftikhar Ali Malik, Khawaja Zarar Kaleem, Hameed Akhter Chadha, M Naseer, Haji Murad Ali, Sheikh M. Naseem, Akhlaq Ahmed Butt, Rana Shahzad Hafeez, Sheikh Sarwat Ikram, Khawaja Amir Hassan, Khawaja Tahir Hassan and others were also present in the meeting.
Khuram Dastgir Khan said that business community is playing pivotal role in national economic uplift, adding that govt’s utmost effort was to provide assistance to the businessmen in case of any difficulties. “We are committed to utilize our best and every possible step to streamline the national economy,” he said. He said, “Government is paying full attention to overcome the energy crises. Many power projects are under construction and after completion of these projects energy crisis would be reduced.”
FPCCI president Mian Idrees, chairman UBG Iftikhar Ali Malik, chairman TDAP SM Munir said that FPCCI is striving hard to highlight the problems faced by the business community. Earlier, GCCI president Khawaja Khalid Hassan, while briefing the minister, said that businessmen are facing immense problems. He demanded of the minister to make his best efforts for resolving the problems of business community. APP adds: Trade Development Authority Pakistan (TDAP) has offered an excellent and attractive package of incentives to exporters for holding expos throughout the world for promotion of Pakistani products globally.
Chief Executive TDAP SM Munir said Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif always attached great importance to welfare of the business community, especially exporters, and it was first time in history that all available resources of TDAP had now been diverted exclusively for the promotion of Pakistan products and exploring the foreign market.
He said in order to fully encourage women entrepreneurs, a nominal fee of Rs 15,000 per stall will be charged from them at all foreign expos. He said a special counter for women exporters had also been set up one each at all provincial headquarters to facilitate them.
S M Munir said: "He belongs to the business community and that is why he understands how to serve exporters and address their genuine problems".
He said a committee had also been constituted to study proposals and recommendations put forth by chambers to further improve an overall working of authority in line with international standards. He said there was no restriction to any chamber across the country for holding single country expo anywhere in the world.
S M Munir urged exporters to take full advantage of facilities of the TDAP and earn foreign exchange besides promoting Pak products in the world. President Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Muhammad Adrees said problems of traders were being resolved on a top priority and all important issues were also being taken up at provincial and federal level for early and prompt redressal.
Iftikhar Ali Malik said the government had already directed the department concerned to resolve genuine problems of the business community.
He said it was first time that the chief of TDAP was conducting a nationwide tour of all important chambers to have first hand information about their problems.
He said SM Munir who was also patron-in-chief of United Business Group had already visited Lahore, Okara, Sahiwal, Khanewal, Vehari, Multan,Faisalabd and Mardan to take stakeholders into confidence on prudent national economic policies and seek their proposals for further betterment.
