ISLAMABAD (Online)- A delegation of the Pakistani-Descent Cardiologists of North America (APCNA) called on President Asif Ali Zardari in the Presidency on Monday. The delegation led by Dr Javed Suleman comprised of M. Wajid Baig, Rizwan Karatela, Asif Rehan, Mansoor Hussain, Immad Sadiq and Dr Shaukat Zaidi. Federal Health Minister Mir Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani and Secretary Health Salman Ghani were also present at the meeting. The delegation members said that they were visiting Pakistan to assess the cardio related health facilities available in the country and to offer their services in augmenting it in any practical way. They said that the cardiovascular diseases were on the rise in developing countries like Pakistan and as the cost of specialised treatment had increased manifold there was need for adopting preventive measures to address the growing epidemic. The delegation offered its services to work with established institutions in the country to help establish training programs in Pakistan. The APCNA offered to schedule regular cardiovascular training sessions in various institutions through out the country. The President appreciated the offer of APCNA and expressed confidence that the government will look into their proposals with the view to benefiting the people. Meanwhile Daffa Alla Elhag Ali Osman, outgoing Ambassador of Sudan also called on President Asif Ali Zardari. The President appreciated the services rendered by him for strengthening the relations between the two countries and wished him success in his future assignments. The outgoing Ambassador of Sudan thanked the President for the support extended to him during his stay in Pakistan.
