ISLAMABAD (PPI) - Security has been beefed up at all 25 churches of the federal capital to ensure protection of Christian community during Christmas festival. A delegation of Christian community led by Mazhar Ishaq met with the SP Islamabad Musrrat Khan Niazi and asked him to provide adequate security to churches and Christian organisations. The SP assured the delegation that stringent security measures would be adopted to ensure their protection. Talking to this agency, a police official said security has also been tightened at all the camps where preparations for Christmas are underway. He said that extra police force has been deployed at all religious places of Christians and intensive patrolling will be conducted across Islamabad in this regard. He said security of other Christian community, including residences and schools has also been beefed up. At the same time, he said that police and rangers patrolling, snap checking have also been accelerated in the area. Police commandos equipped with sophisticated weapons and wireless sets would be deployed outside the churches, he said, adding police personnel in plain clothes will also be deployed with sniffer dogs outside the churches. Meanwhile, officials of ICT administration also held a meeting to review the security arrangements and planned special measures for Christmas. The scholars and priests have been asked to preach tolerance, peace and harmony. The DSPs and SHOs of all police stations have been instructed for patrolling in their respective jurisdictions on Christmas day. The police have also been alerted at the entry and exit points of the capital and directed to keep an eye on the suspected elements.
