ISLAMABAD (APP) - Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Tuesday stressed the need for solid steps for reinvigorating the textile sector, keeping in view its importance as the backbone of national economy. Talking to Federal Minister for Textile Industry Rana Muhammad Farooq Saeed Khan at the PM House, the Prime Minister said the provinces should be consulted while making policies in this vitally important sector. The minister briefed the Prime Minister on the steps being taken by the government for facilitating textile sector and for ensuring the availability of raw material for value added products. Rana Muhammad also apprised the Prime Minister about the implementation status of the recently announced textile policy, which has set a prospective plan for the next 15 years under which the country will move at the higher end of world textile map by achieving a target of textile exports between US$ 75-100 billion. Secretary Textile Industry was also present during the meeting.
