IWHA office-bearers elected

ISLAMABAD Member National Assembly Ashrat Ashraf was elected as president of Islamabad Womens Hockey Association (IWHA) and Tesneem Siddique secretary IWHA for the next four-year term on Tuesday. The IWHA general council met here at the media centre of the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) in which new office bearers were elected by the house unanimously. Samia Tirmazi was elected as finance secretary of the association. After the meeting Ashrat Ashraf told reporters in a briefing that all the office bearers were elected unanimously. Shahista Pirzada is elected as senior vice president of the IWHA. Three vice presidents Miss Yaqoob Jameel-ur-Rehman, Noor Naz and Rana Anjum were also unanimously elected, she added. Shahzia Kamal will be associate secretary of the IWHA. We will make collective efforts for the promotion of national game in the capital city. We will make the best team for the national competitions and will provide maximum opportunities to our girls to excel at national level, she added. Responding to a question, she said that collages and schools were the basic nurseries for womens hockey. We will try to uplift the standard of the game at school and collage level. We will also provide coaching facilities at grass root level to polish the talent at first step, she concluded.
