LAHORE - An Accountability Court on Wednesday awarded ten-year imprisonment along with fine of Rs 16.1 million to National Bank Officer Rahim Yar Khan namely Tariq Murtaza Malhi. As per details, NAB Punjab had filed a reference against Tariq Murtaza on October 23, 2007, for allegedly misappropriating 16.42 million rupees. According to the reference an investigation was authorised against the aforementioned accused on a complaint filed by management of National Bank of Pakistan. The investigation revealed that accused Tariq was posted in NBP Model Town Branch of Rahim Yar Khan and during his posting in 1997-2003 he misused his official position. He dishonestly tempered bank accounts and committed fraudulent withdrawals from various bank accounts.
