Hamid Khan Group wins with seven votes

LAHORE - Out of total 11 Punjab seats of Pakistan Bar Council (PBC), Professional Group of Hamid Khan is clearly leading others with seven votes, to command majority in the election of this supreme statutory body of the country held here on Wednesday. The 75-member Punjab Bar Council is the electoral college of the Pakistan Bar Council and in Punjab 30 were in the run. The PBC has total 22 seats in the country with 11 in Punjab, 6 in Sindh, 4 in Khyber PK and one in Balochistan. In Punjab, five candidates secured 5 first priority votes each, four candidates secured 4 first priority votes each, one candidate secured 3 votes of first priority and 8 candidates got 2 votes each of first priority. Attorney General of Pakistan would announce their result on December 31 after assessing their priority votes. Among those who secured five votes each include Burhan Muazzam Malik, Azam Nazir Tarar, Ramzan Chaudhry and Maqsood Buttar. The four candidates who secured 4 votes of first priority include Muhammad Ahsan Bhoon, Mian Abbas, Muhammad Kalim Ahmad Khurshid, and Syed Qalb-e-Hassan. Mian Israr Ahmed is the only candidate who secured 3 votes of first priority. Those seven candidates who secured two votes each of first priority are included Deputy Speaker of Punjab Assembly Rana Mashhood Ahmed, Muhammad Arif Alvi, Shahram Sarwar, Ch Muhammad Ashraf Wahlah, Nasrullah Warraich, Mian Quddoos, and Asghar Hussain Sabzwari. There are strong chances of four candidates who secured five votes but losing in case of not getting votes of second or third priority. Same case would be with those candidates who secured four and three priority votes. Neck in neck is among the seven candidates who secured two votes each and would be elected for only one seat in case the candidates who secured 3, 4 and 5 votes of first priority.
