SC summons SP for defective probe

LAHORE - A Full Bench of the Supreme Court Wednesday sought appearance of the SP investigation to seek explanation about what the court found defective and below the mark investigations into the incident of grenade attack on a Texla Church which left four women dead and 25 others injured in the year of 2002. The court rebuked the officials of prosecution department for their failure to hold fair and quality investigations into the incident. Headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, and comprising Justice Jawad S Khwaja and Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday, the Bench is hearing appeals of three convicts in the case. Finding many anomalies in the prosecution investigation, the court directed the concerned SP Investigation to appear in person before the court on Thursday (today). During the proceedings Justice Khalil-ur-Rehman Ramday, one of the members on the bench, knowing that the investigators failed in finding any clue about the attackers when one of the attackers was killed at the spot and had his national identity card in his pocket, remarked that why they failed to make progress in this regard.
