ISLAMABAD - Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Justice (Retd) Syed Deedar Hussain Shah has reiterated that corruption needs to be checked for the overall social and economic development of the country and urged to increase efforts for bringing transparency, fairness and enforcement of rules in govt departments. He expressed these views while chairing the Executive Board Meeting of NAB here on Wednesday. It has been learn that cases discussed during the meeting included the acquisition of 3,000 knals of land near Bhara Kahu, for Federal Government Housing Scheme by the Ministry of Housing and Works at exorbitant prices. The NAB would inquire the complaint against the officers responsible for wasting the public funds. In the meeting, cases against MD Pasban Cooperative Finance Corporation, Anwar Housing Scheme, Dascon Pannu Aqil and DHO Dera Ismail Khan were accepted for plea bargains and voluntary returns by the Board. The NAB has also informed about the approval of filing of references against Aurangzaib Khan of PTCI for accumulation of assets beyond means and remaining family members of Shahid Hassan Awan who were actively involved in the scam. The NAB also authorised the holding of inquiries against Shams-uz-Zaman for money laundering, former President ZTBL Mansoor Khan for mismanagement of funds.
