Asfand says Trump’s Afghan policy disastrous for region

| | Claims ANP will shift power from ‘Bani Gala’ to KP after winning elections

PESHAWAR -  President of Awami National Party Asfandyar Wali Khan has said that President Donald Trump’s Afghan policy for the region would not only prove devastating for the region but also for the people of the United States.

He said that it was the “bad luck” of the Americans that a person like Donald Trump was elected president of the US.

The ANP leader expressed these views, while addressing the fifth death anniversary of Bashir Bilour here in Wazir Bagh, Peshawar on Friday.

Awami National Party Senior Vice President Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, General Secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain, City District President Malak Mustafa, and others were present on the occasion. Asfandyar paid rich tributes to the sacrifices of Bashir Ahmad Bilour who lost his life in a terrorist attack in Peshawar’s Qissa Khawani Bazaar.

He said that the ANP was proud of the bravery of Shaheed Bashir Bilour, and called him the real hero of the nation.

The ANP central president said that Bashir Bilour was a brave man and a true follower of Bacha Khan, who would live on in their hearts due to his matchless sacrifice for the cause of Pakhtuns.

He added that despite repeated terrorist attacks against him, he never succumbed to any threat from the terrorist side.

Asfandyar said that Bashir Ahmad Bilour had great love for this soil and his sacrifices for the cause of the country would not go in vain.

Commenting on US President Donald Trump’s policies, the ANP chief said that those policies were not only dangerous for the region but also for the people of the United States.

He said that it was the “bad luck” of the Americans that a person like Trump was elected president of the United States.

The ANP chief said that Pakistan was also passing through a critical stage of its history and the country’s political leadership should formulate effective policies to deal with any external threat.

He also criticised the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government for deviating from his promise regarding merger of the Fata in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and it was extremely important to decide the fate of the Fata before the general elections to give them representation in the KP Assembly.

The ANP chief said that PTI chairman Imran Khan has always criticised others for corruption but the Supreme Court had declared his “ATM, corrupt”.

He hoped that in the upcoming general elections the Awami National Party would defeat the PTI and would transfer the authority from Bani Gala to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
