Rawalpindi - Following fresh terror threats, a high- level meeting to review security measures for schools and churches will be held at Regional Police Officer Office today (Saturday).

The meeting will be presided over by RPO Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja while attended by City Police Officer Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi, District Police Officer Attock Ibadat Nisar, DPO Chakwal Muhammad Haroon Joya, DPO Jhelum Abdul Ghaffar Qaisrani and other senior police officers, informed a police spokesman on Friday.

The RPO will be given briefing by the other district police chiefs as to what kind of the security steps they have taken so far to shield the churches and the educational intuitions following the fresh terror threats hurled by the banned outfits. 

Meanwhile, RPO Wisal Fakhar has ordered to enhance security of worship places, churches and educational institutions across the region.

He directed the police officers concerned to make sure that the panic buttons at all educational institutions especially at A and B category institutions were functioning properly.

He said monitoring of inter-region check posts be ensured at any cost and all the vehicles and public passing these check posts should be checked accordingly.

“The police officers should remove all loopholes in security of churches and schools in the region as intelligence agencies issued warning that terrorists may launch attacks on the churches or schools on eve of Christmas,” he said.

The RPO said no negligence will be tolerated in this regard while strict action will also be taken against those police officers found involved in making feeble security measures in their areas concerned.
