LAHORE -  Nursing Director General Kausar Parveen on Friday distributed appreciation certificates to 14 nurses for good performance, discipline and friendly behaviour at a ceremony at the Lahore General Hospital.

Prof Khalid Mahmood attended the ceremony as a special guest. Nursing Exams Controller Zubaida Ishaque, Nursing AMS Dr Shabnam Gulzar, Nursing Superintendent Razia Bano and a large number of nurses attended the ceremony.

Addressing the ceremony, Parveen said that these certificates would be made part of ACRs. Prof Khalid Mahmood said that nursing was a sacred profession. He said these healthcare providers put their own health and even life at risk to serve the ailing humanity. He cited the case of second year nursing student Asmaa Kanwal who sacrificed her life while serving dengue patients in 2011. He said she was Florence Nightingale of Pakistan and a role model for all nurses.
