Presidency's drivers slip away in US

ISLAMABAD Five official drivers of the Presidency, who had been sent on a special training programme last year, have managed to slip in the United State (US), TheNation has learnt reliably. A credible source told this scribe that the Presidency had sent five drivers including Rafiq Khattak, Shakir Khan, Fayyaz Butt and two others to the US for the chauffeur-training course. However, two of them slipped immediately after completion of their training while three came back with multiple visas to pursue their careers abroad abandoning the Government of Pakistan, the sources added. The source quoting subsequent information told this scribe that the remaining driver also fled US availing their multiple visas. Now all five, the source said, have still not returned the country and are probably working on their private jobs in the US. It is also pertinent to mention here that Rafiq Khattak, who had been working with the Presidency for last 24 year, submitted a leave application from abroad. However, the Presidency strongly rejected his application and served him a show cause notice. When asked the Presidential Spokesman, Farhatullah Babar about the escape of drivers, he said that he had no idea about this incidence. I have never heard of it, he maintained. It also questionable why they were sent abroad without following the due procedure.
