LAHORE (APP) - Governor State Bank of Pakistan, Salim Raza said on Monday that SBP would have no objection if any Pakistani bank wants to launch its operation in India by opening a branch. We will facilitate any such bank which is interested in opening its branch in India because we want to have good relations with our neighbouring countries ,he told reporters here on the final of State Bank Cricket tournament at Bagh-e- Jinnah ground. He called for adopting an aggressive policy by the banks and financial institutions for providing loans because of decline in consumer financing. As many as 42 banks are functioning in Pakistan and due to condition of paid up capital banks are merging and as a result few but financially very strong banks will continue functioning which, he observed, will be a good sign ,he said. The state bank governor said one of the reasons for rise in price of consumer goods is withdrawal of subsidy by the Government which, he added, is not in position to sustain its burden. That is why change is taking place in inflation which will be taken into consideration for reducing interest rate ,he added.
