ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, while welcoming the growing ties between the Communist Party of China (CPC) and all the political parties of Pakistan, said on Tuesday that the Pakistan-China friendship is one of those matters on which all the political stakeholders in Pakistan are unanimous and are keen to take this strategic partnership to even higher levels. He was talking to Ai Ping, Vice Minister of International Department of the Communist Party of China, who along with a delegation called on him at the PMs House here. He conveyed the governments felicitations to the government and people of China on the 90th anniversary of the founding of Communist Party of China (CPC). The Prime Minister commended the leadership of CPC for its vision and sagacity in leading China in the economic as well as international realm and for the betterment and prosperity of the Chinese people. Noting that the year 2011 being the 60th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries had been declared by Premier Wen Jiabao and himself as the 'Year of Friendship between Pakistan and China, the Prime Minister said that a series of year long events were being planned in every sphere of the relationship to celebrate the friendship year in a befitting manner. He stated that as part of those celebrations, he was looking forward to his visit to China in the middle of the year and that of Chinese President to Pakistan in the later half of the year. He expressed his confidence that these high-level contacts would play an important role in further cementing the bilateral ties and expanding the cooperation in all fields. The Prime Minister underlined the need for enhanced Parliamentary exchanges and people-to-people contacts for passing down the legacy of these historically cordial relations to the next generations in both the countries. The Prime Minister thanked the government and people of China for their steadfast, prompt and generous support in relief and rehabilitation efforts of his government for the flood affectees of last year. He particularly thanked the Chinese Government for standing by Pakistan in providing food, fuel and other necessities to the people of Upper Hunza who had been stranded after the massive landslide blocking the Hunza River and then creating Atta Abad lake. The Prime Minister reiterated his governments continued support to 'One China Policy, Chinese reunification with Taiwan and for the Chinese governments efforts for safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Prime Minister added that Pakistan considered Tibbet as an integral part of China and would persist in its anti-terrorism cooperation with China particularly with regard to (East Turkistan Independent Movement (ETIM). The Prime Minister while expressing his satisfaction on the on going cooperation between the two countries at the international foras termed it gratifying that Pakistan and China had identical positions on most of the regional and international issues and they should strengthen their coordination and cooperation in this regard at the UN as well as other international forums. The Prime Minister asked the Vice Minister Ai Ping to convey his personal greetings and best wishes to Premier Wen Jiabao and the Chinese leadership. Vice Minister Ai Ping acknowledged the pivotal role played by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Shaheed in bringing Pakistan - China closer and thanked the Prime Minister for his personal as well as familys commitment and investment in strengthening of Pakistan-China relations.
