PC refuses extension to two SHC judges

ISLAMABAD - The parliamentary committee dealing with the appointment of judges in superior judiciary on Tuesday granted one-year extension to four out of six additional judges of Sindh High Court while it turned down the recommendations of the judicial commission in the two cases. The meeting of eight-member parliamentary committee held under the chair of Senator Nayyar Bokhari in the parliament house endorsed the recommendations of judicial commission in cases of four additional judges of Sindh High Court and granted them extension in service for one year while turned down the cases of two judges of the same high court. Those who were granted extension in service for one year included Justice Hassan Ali Rizvi, Justice Mohammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Nisar Ahmad Sheikh and Justice Imam Bakhsh while the judges who were not granted extension included Justice Tasneem Aslam and Justice Sajjad Hamid. It may be recalled that recommendations in connection with extension of services of nine additional judges of Sindh High Court were sent to the judicial commission and after going through the cases of these judges the judicial commission had recommended some six cases to the parliamentary committee which had again dropped two cases and gave approval to only four cases.
