Pakistan looks in good shape for the World Cup. Captain of the team Shahid Afridi looks in a positive frame of mind. Our teams overall performance in previous world cup is good. Pakistan has played 56 matches in all world cups, have won 30 matches and lost 24 matches, whereas two matches had no result. In group matches, Pakistan will be playing against Kenya, Sri Lanka, Canada, New Zealand, Zimbabwe and Australia. The team has never played against Kenya in the World Cup, whereas against Canada, Pakistan has only played once and has won that match. Against Australia, green shirts have won 3 matches out of 7 matches which is a bit worrying in case the two titans happen to meet during the tournament. The 1992 champions have won all the matches (six) against Sri Lanka in the World Cups, where as against New Zealand, Pakistan has lost only one match in 7 games. This record shows that Pakistan has a very good chance of qualifying in the Quarter finals and who knows even grabbing the title. I hope the team management has various game plans for the matches and would put them into use as skilfully as possible. The World Cup is all about planning every game according to the match situation. MUBASHIR MAHMOOD, Karachi, February 21.
