KARACHI - ANISUDDIN KHAN -  Canadian, Iranian and Indian juniors have conformed participation in the 4th edition of Roshan Khan Junior Open Squash Championships which will begin here from February 25 at Pakistan Navy Roshan Khan-Jahangir Khan squash complex.

A media briefing was held here Wednesday at the championship venue where details of the five day competitions carrying $10,000 in prize money were given. Former squash great Jahangir Khan, who is also chairman the organising committee, along with Shah M Saad Husain GM Corporate Affairs PARCO Ltd and Tahir Jamil Khanzada Tournament Director addressed the media.

Two players from India are Ranjeet Singh and Junaid Muzaffar Thokar, two Iranians Irfan Jamshidi and Aliee Nayeri and Dorosham Khan of Canada are among 210 junior players who will appear in the championships which will be held in various junior age categories ranging from under 11 to under 19 in boys section and under 15 and under 19 in girls category.

There has been dramatic increase in the number of entries in the current event.

Sindh has entered the highest number of 114 players followed by Punjab (49), KPK (45), Balochistan (13), ZTBL (2), Pakistan Army (1) and Wapda (1). The number of entries from Punjab has suddenly dropped in this event though in all the previous events held in Karachi, the Punjab had sent big contingents.

The championship is registered with the Asian Squash Federation (ASF) as ASF Junior Super Series event. This is the first time ever in Pakistan Squash history that a junior event is being registered with the Asian Squash Federation (ASF). The title sponsor of the championship is Pak-Arab Refinery Limited (PARCO). The co-sponsors are Kazim Anwar ADHA Trust, Coca Cola Pvt Ltd and Pakistan Sports Trust (PST).

In boys categories competitions will be held in U-11, U-13, U-15, U-17, and U-19 where as in the girl’s event the contests will be held in U-15 and U-19.

Following is prize money disbursement in all the events.

Boys: Under-19: Winner USD 1000, second place USD 600, third USD 400.

Under 17: Winenr USD 500, second USD 300, third USD 200.

Under 15: Winner USD 250, second USD 150, third USD 100.

Under 13: Winner USD 200, second USD 100, third USD 75.

Under 11: Winner USD 200, second USD 100, third USD 75.

Girls: Under 19: winner USD 600, second 400, third 200.

Under 15: winner USD 200, second 100, third USD 75.
