ISLAMABAD – Members National Assembly from NA-39 (Orakzai Agency) and NA-37 (Kurram Agency) met with Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf here on Friday and announced to join Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Syed Khursheed Ahmad Shah and KP President Anwar Saifullah were also present on the occasion. Talking to Prime Minister Pervaiz Ashraf, Jawad Hussain and Sajid Hussain Turi, who were elected as independent candidates from Fata, said they, keeping in view the political situation in the country in general and prevailing in Fata in particular, had taken the decision to join PPP.They said the PPP was the only political party, which had worked for the welfare of the people of Fata. They particularly referred to reforms in FCR and implementation of Political Parties Ordinance in Fata undertaken by the present government and said it demonstrated party's commitment to giving rights to people of the region.Both lawmakers said the scope and scale of development work carried out by the PPP-led government in Fata had influenced their decision to join the party. They said party's commitment to mainstreaming the region with rest of the country was evidenced by the fact that it increased development spending from Rs 4 billion to over Rs 17 billion in Fata. They said they could better take care of people's interests by working with the PPP.Lauding Jawad and Sajid Turi's decisions to join PPP, Raja said it was testimony to the fact that policy of reconciliation the present government had been following to deal with national issues was bearing fruits. He said this reflected people's confidence in PPP-led government’s performance.The prime minister said with inclusion of two lawmakers, the party would become stronger in Fata. He hoped that new entrants would work wholeheartedly for the welfare of the people of Pakistan.
