LAHORE - Jamaat-e-Islami chief Syed Munawwar Hassan said the distinction achieved by young students in academics despite lack of the government patronage and adequate educational facilities proved that the country’s youth is capable of leading the world in every sphere of life.
Commenting on the achievement of Haris Manzoor winning top world position in O Level examination, the JI leader said here on Saturday, that the talented boys and girls of the country, including Irfa Karim, Musa Feroze and Mohsin Ali had raised the nation’s head with honour. He said these young boys and girls deserved full official patronage and attention.
Munawwar also stressed upon the government to adopt Urdu as the medium of instruction at the school level and introduce a uniform curriculum and syllabus all over the country, as this further improve the education standard and promote national unity and cohesion.
Besides, he said, special attention must be given to research at high school level by establishing fully equipped laboratories. At the same time, he said big libraries should be set up to promote reading habit in the young one and to save them from the deadly effects of the mobile phones and internet.
Meanwhile, JI Secretary General Liaqat Baloch said that although the country’s Constitution was Islamic and the state religion was Islam, yet the governments’ policies and actions so far had been in conflict with the teachings of the Holy Quran and Sunnah.
