121 more out-of-turn promoted cops demoted

Rawalpindi - Following the orders of the Supreme Court, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja has demoted 121 more police officers by withdrawing their out-of-turn promotions and other benefits. A notification in this regard has also been issued by the RPO, informed a police spokesman yesterday. The demoted cops include 18 sub-inspectors, 14 assistant sub-inspectors, 61 head constables and 28 constables.
According to spokesman, the RPO has demoted some 121 police officers and cops to the same ranks on which they were serving at the time of their out-of-turn promotions. Meanwhile, the RPO awarded appreciation certificates (CC-II) along with cash prizes to a police team for apprehending a dacoit gang which had looted cash from a filling station at gunpoint in Jhelum.
The armed gang of five dacoits stormed into a filling station in Jhelum on February 21 at 4:00am, made the entire staff hostage at gunpoint, snatched Rs 200,000 and ran away. A police team headed by station house officer of police station Jalalpur Sharif, SI Nisar started chasing the fleeing dacoits. The dacoits jumped into Jhelum River to avoid arrest but the police team arrested them within the river.
