The hideouts were being used by terrorists for cross-border movement, the sources said. The drone, hovering at low altitude, created panic and fear among the local people.
On the other hand, an indefinite dusk-to-dawn curfew was imposed across Mohmand Agency on Monday as security forces stepped up operations in the restive tribal area.
The security forces ordered residents in wee hours of Monday to stay home indefinitely via loudspeakers, before launching an operation against militants.
Meanwhile, troops intensified patrolling across the agency and on the Bannu-Miran Road. According to the political administration, the measures were taken after two separate attacks in the agency which left nine security officials dead.
The curfew would remain imposed from 7am to 7pm during which all education institutions and markets would remain closed, it said.
Five militants were killed as another attack on a security check-post was repulsed in Karapa. The girls’ wing of a new government school in Tiarza was also bombed.
In Peshawar, police and security forces conducted a joint search operation in Karkhano Market and arrested 36 suspects, including three Afghan nationals. About one kilogram drugs and six bottles of liquor were also recovered from the suspects.
