A boy died after falling down from rooftop while flying-kite here on Monday morning. Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif taking exception to the kite-flying related incident, suspended and demoted three police officers.

The police said that the boy identified as 10-year-old Ibrar, resident of Mustafaabad area in Murike slipped off from rooftop and fell down while flying kite. As a result, he died on the spot. His dead body was shifted to hospital and later handed over to the heirs after medico-legal formalities. Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif took strong exception to the kite-flying that resulted in the loss of a life. The CM made acting DPO SP Jawad Tariq OSD and suspended DSP Murike Circle Arshad Sahi and SHO Shahzad Ghumman. He also directed for taking strict action against those violating ban on kite-flying. It is to be noted that despite a ban imposed on kite-flying, citizens continue mass violation in various cities which often results in loss of precious lives and injuries to many others. Hundreds of culprits involved in kite business and purchasing have been arrested in the recent week from different cities of the province.

In Sahiwal, 21 persons involved in kite-flying, its sales and manufacturing were arrested here on Monday. The police launched crackdown on the elements involved in violation of ban on kite-flying in different areas of Sahiwal.

Hundreds of kites, metallic string and chemical was recovered from the possession of the arrested persons. The police after registering a case against the culprits at respective police stations have started investigation.
