Maimed man dies at Nishtar Hospital

MULTAN - A young man, whose leg was chopped off by his relatives over an old enmity, succumbed to his wounds here in Nishtar Hospital on Monday. The deceased Abid, 25, was also shot at by the accused Irfan, Ashraf and others in precincts of Budhla Sant police and fled with the chopped leg of the deceased. The CPO Azhar Akram told media that a case has been registered against the accused and three separate teams have been constituted to catch them in 48 hours. “I visited Abid in the hospital and has given a 48 hour deadline to the police concerned to arrest the accused,” he added.
Police sources said that the deceased had got registered a dog theft case against his relative Irfan about six months ago. Although both the parties reconciled, the accused in theft case namely Irfan nursed a grudge against Abid. Sources said that the accused caught Abid alone on Sunday night and seriously injured him.
He was rushed to Nishtar Hospital for treatment but he could not survive.
One of the three teams constituted by the CPO is led by SSP Investigation, the other by SP CIA and the third ASP Makhdoom Rasheed. Police sources said that the teams conducted a number of raids to catch the accused and the detached leg of the deceased was recovered while hunt was on to arrest the killers.
Meanwhile, the relatives of the deceased staged a demonstration against the accused and police outside Nishtar Hospital on Monday. They shouted slogans against the killers and demanded their immediate arrest.
