Lahore - The city traffic police have distributed 1000 motorcycle mirrors among the citizens during a special campaign in the provincial capital yesterday.

The awareness campaign that has been initiated on the direction of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Tayyab Hafiz Cheema, was launched in collaboration with Atlas Honda Company at the front gate of Alhamhra.

The campaign consists of two days awareness programme for convincing the general public to use mirrors on motorcycles.

The purpose of this exercise is to create a general sense among the public for adopting road safety measures while driving bikes at road, a police spokesman told The Nation.

Mr Yasir also expressed the hope that such initiative will be helpful for overcoming the road accidents in future. These road safety measures include use of helmet and back-view mirrors, proper maintenance of motorbikes, especially indicators, to avoid accidents.

He also informed that the traffic police would take action against the violators. “Wardens will impose heavy fines in case of violations of these road safety measures,” he warned.

“It is the duty of public to follow these measures before coming on roads. It is essential not only for their safety but also for others on the roads,” he added.
