China least bother of any alternative plan of BRI

China looked least bother of any alternative plan of Belt and Road’s initiative, and reiterated its position on the most impressive socio-economic collaborative arrangement that has already been endorsed by over sixty countries of the World.

A spokesman of the Foreign Ministry Geng Shuang said here at a regular news briefing that China believed that the initiative is in the best interest of all the countries of the World.

His attention was drawn towards a media’s report that United States, India and Japan are considering setting up a joint regional infrastructure plan as an "alternative" to China's Belt and Road Initiative.

Without showing any concern and reaction on the reported move, the spokesman said China proposed the "Belt and Road Initiative," aiming to tap the momentum of economic growth in various countries and promote the common development of all countries by promoting infrastructure construction and interconnection.

He further said, “The One Belt and One Road upholds the principle of sharing common development and sharing and aims at mutual benefit and win-win. Since the proposal was put forward five years ago, it has achieved fruitful results, has had a positive impact and has been universally welcomed."

In May last year, the One Belt and One Road International Cooperation Summit was held in Beijing.

At that time, more than 140 countries attended the summit, which was unprecedented in its history.

"This is a confidence vote cast by the international community on the Belt and Road Initiative. We have emphasized many times that the Belt and Road Initiative is an open and inclusive initiative that all like-minded countries can participate in, including those you just mentioned."

"Of course, this should be done on a voluntary basis. Finally, let me stress that infrastructure construction is an important driving force for economic development," he added.

"China welcomes all countries in the world to increase their input in infrastructure construction and hopes that all parties will promote relevant international cooperation in the spirit of openness, inclusiveness and win-win cooperation to jointly promote regional and global economic development and benefit all peoples.”
