Dr Faisal urges eligible people to register for COVID-19 vaccination

He got himself vaccinated with SinoPharm to encourage healthcare workers

ISLAMABAD   -  Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on National Health Services (NHS) Dr. Faisal Sultan on Monday urged eligible people to register themselves for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination.

Dr. Faisal Sultan said this while getting himself vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccine SinoPharm to encourage healthcare workers for vaccination. Talking to media after vaccination, the SAPM on NHS said that he presented himself for the COVID-19 vaccination being a doctor.

He said that the AstraZenca will reach Pakistan in first week of March and before month of June 17 million doses will be received.

Urging healthcare workers for the vaccination, he said that general workers should visit the website and get themselves registered. 

SAPM Dr. Faisal Sultan said that government initially started registration of people above 65 years and yesterday also started registration of people above 60 years.

“All vaccines are 90 per cent safe from any severe side effects,” he said.

Dr. Faisal Sultan said that SinoPharm license was for people upto age of 60 years and all eligible citizens should register themselves for vaccination.

SAPM on Health said that still there is need of care from COVID-19 and safety measures must not be left even after getting vaccinated. Dr. Faisal Sultan also appreciated the role of media and said that media played exemplary role in covering the pandemic.

“Soon frontline health reporters will be also vaccinated while there is also not any issue of vaccine storage space and vaccine centres could be increased easily.

He also added that all plan of vaccination is prepared and further said that people are getting confused due to rumours.

“I will stress that any available vaccine should be availed by citizens and HCWs,” he said.
