ISLAMABAD - Capital police Thursday arrested two car lifters after exchange of firing near Motorway Toll Plaza Brahama Bahatar and recovered a stolen car along with the escorted vehicle from their possession. As per details, some unidentified car lifters stole a black colour Toyota car bearing registration number LX-041-ICT from the jurisdiction of Sabzi Mandi Police Station. The owner of the car Hannan informed the Rescue 15 at 6:45am and a case was also registered in the respective jurisdiction. Taking notice of the incident, SSP Captain (Retd) Ahmed Latif assigned the task to the SP (Investigation) Sajid Kiyani to trace the criminals immediately. He instantly alerted check posts at Motorway Chowk and Tarnol installed by Anti Car Lifting Cell under the supervision of In-charge Anti-car Lifting Cell Inspector Khalid Masood Akram for the purpose. In-charge check post at Toll Plaza comprising of ASI Khalid Iqbal and other police officials including Badar Uddin, Muhammad Ali, Shehzad Ahmed and Abaad Ali located the car near 'Brahama Bahatar' motorway toll plaza, which was escorted by another vehicle (RIY-8455) of the car lifters. On seeing the police team, they hit the constable standing near toll plaza and entered the motorway without getting the token from the motorway authorities. Police chased the car lifters who started firing on them to escape from the scene. In response, policemen retaliated and an accused was injured during the firing. Later, the police party overpowered the injured accused and shifted him to Civil Hospitl Hassan Abdal and took the stolen car into their possession. The co-accused after leaving the stolen car boarded in other car being used for escort and tried to run away. The team members of Anti Car Lifting Cell immediately informed the Motorway police for assistance who immediately responded and succeeded to stop the vehicle No.RIY-8445 and overpowered one accused Javed Gul s/o Inayat R/O Khyber Agency while the other made their escape good from the scene. Thus the vehicle was also taken into possession. Case has been registered at Police Station Hassan Abdal against the accused vide FIR No.38 dated 22-1-2009 U/S 324/353/148/149-PPC. The teams have been dispatched to Peshawar to arrest the other culprits.
