LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has issued necessary instructions to authorities of health department for completing the process of promotion of doctors from grade 17 to 18, and from grade 18 to 19 on priority basis. This was disclosed by Chairman CMs Taskforce on Health and Anti Spurious Drugs, Dr Saeed Elahi. He said due to incomplete annual reports of doctors the cases of their promotion were kept pending. He said that the work had been started on emergency basis for promotion of doctors from grade 17 to 18 and in this regard a meeting of departmental promotion committee would be held on January 23. He said a meeting of S&GAD for promotion of doctors from grade 18 to 19 is expected within next few days. Dr Saeed Elahi said that the promotion cases of competent doctors would be completed speedily so that they could serve the patients with full devotion. Trauma course College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan in collaboration with American College of Surgeons organized 1st ATLS Course at Lahore Centre. Pakistan is the only country, which is organizing this international trauma course under the auspices of American College of Surgeons in this region. Professor Christopher, Chairman, American College of Surgeons and Professor John Cart Beck, Chairman of Trauma Committee conducted the first course of the country in Karachi. After Karachi and Islamabad the course has been started in Lahore. There would be a reasonable reduction in accidental ailments and disabilities after the doctors are trained through this international course. CPSP has trained 130 trainee doctors and 30 instructors in Karachi. In Pakistan, under the supervision of Professor Zafar Ullah Chaudhry, President, CPSP, Professor Mahmood Ayyaz, Course Director and Professor Khalid Masood Gondal, Regional Director, the senior instructors of American College of Surgeons are conducting the course through which 15 specialist doctors across the province will be trained.
