LAHORE Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that democracy aims at serving the masses and to uphold supremacy of law and the Constitution. He said that his visit to Turkey was scheduled months ago and it had no link with the visit of President Asif Ali Zardari to the City. He said had he been in Lahore, he would have received President Zardari and would welcome him in future whenever he would come to Lahore. The Chief Minister was talking to media men at Allama Iqbal International Airport on his arrival after completing visit of Turkey and Britain on Friday. At the airport, the Chief Minister was received by Senior Advisor Sirdar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa, members of the Parliament and the senior officers. Responding to questions, the Chief Minister said his visit to Turkey had been very successful and expressed strong hope that it will go a long way to promote economic and political ties between the two countries. He said a number of agreements were signed for bilateral cooperation in various sectors between Turkey and Punjab during his visit which will leave a positive impact on the development of the province. He said he met Turkish President, Prime Minister, Ministers and other authorities while the investors in his delegation held meetings with Turk businessmen which will result in new investment in Punjab. He said he was thankful to Turkish government and the people for extending him and his delegation a warm welcome and hospitality. He said that after his official visit to Turkey he went to Britain and held meetings with governmental an non-governmental personalities in Glasgow and discussed matters with regard to various projects including solid waste management, public transport and metro train. He said he also met British Minister for International Development and discussed the projects being executed in Punjab with the cooperation of DFID. In reply to a question, the Chief Minister said that court decisions should be respected by all. He said that his visit to Turkey was scheduled months ago and it had no link with the visit of President Asif Ali Zardari to the City.
