LAHORE - Robbers on Tuesday held up the lady MPA of the PML-N in the Islampura police precincts and snatched away her purse at gunpoint in daylight, police sources claimed.

Member of the Punjab Assembly, Zamurd Yasmin, told the police that two gunmen riding on a motorcycle intercepted her car and took away her handbag, containing Rs 80,000 and other valuables. The police are investigating with no arrest made yet.

In another incident, gunmen stormed into the house of Tahir in the Ghalib Market police vicinity and made off with cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs1.3 million.

Meanwhile, four robbers barged into the house of Javed in the Sabzazar police area and took away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs800000 after holding the inmates hostage at gunpoint.

Baby girl recovered dead: City police on Tuesday recovered the dead body of a minor girl from the BRB Canal in the Batapur area. Investigators suspected that unidentified killers might have thrown the baby into the canal some four to five days ago.

The dead body of the girl, unidentified so far, was decomposed, police said, adding, it was removed to the morgue instantly.

Investigators did not rule out the possibility that the two and half-year-old was thrown into the canal by no other than her parents. The police are investigating with no arrest made yet.

EXPIRED: A two-year-old boy expired in the Children’s Hospital allegedly because of the negligence on part of the doctors on Tuesday.

Rana Nadeem, father of the boy, alleged that the doctors’ negligence and delay in medical treatment claimed the life of his son, Umar.

The resident of Factory Area took his two-year-old to the Children’s Hospital with a medical complication where he expired later. The family members also staged a protest demonstration in front of the hospital and demanded action against the responsible doctors. The hospital management is yet to launch an inquiry to probe into the death.

Woman found dead: A mother of three children was recovered dead under mysterious circumstances from her beauty parlour situated in the Nawan Kot police limits on early Tuesday.

Police investigators said that the woman, later identified as Tahira Batool, a resident of Sabzazar area, committed suicide by swallowing poisonous pills due to unknown reasons. However, the family insisted that she was poisoned to death by unidentified killers. Local residents told the police that the 40-year-old woman had been running the beauty parlour since she was divorced.

On the day of incident, the woman was rushed to a local hospital shortly after she was recovered unconscious from the beauty saloon. Doctors pronounced her as brought dead at the hospital. The police have removed the dead body to the morgue for an autopsy to ascertain the cause of death and are investigating.

FOUND DEAD: A 60-year-old man was recovered dead from the Old Anarkali police limits on Tuesday.

Police investigators said that the man, unidentified so far, was lying dead on the footpath as they reached the spot. Some passersby spotted the body and contacted the police by phone.

A police official claimed that the man apparently was a drug addict, who died of cold weather. The body was removed to the morgue for autopsy. Further investigations are underway.

Meanwhile A 45-year-old man died in the limits of Islampura police on early Tuesday.

Police said that the man, identified as Mohammad Pervez, visited the Sessions Court in the morning where he suffered cardiac arrest.
