KARACHI - Crime Investigation Department claimed to have arrested four alleged operatives affiliated with a Lyari gang from Shanti Nagar area of Gulshan-e-Iqbal here on Tuesday.Police said that they had conducted a raid on a tip-off and managed to arrest four suspects identified as Raheem aka Darinda, Pervez, Afzal and Abbas. It recovered one hand grenade, a Kalashnikov and three pistols from their possession. SSP CID Fayyaz Khan said that one Raheem Darinda was involved in beheading his rival group men in Lyari and wanted in more than 50 cases of killing, torture and kidnapping for ransom. Rupees 0.3 million bounty was fixed by the provincial government on his arrest. Three suspected operatives of Lyari gang were arrested from Maripur locality. Police officials said that the culprits were arrested after an encounter and hand grenades and weapons were also recovered from their possession. Police said that the culprits attacked the police mobile with hand grenade when police mobile reached Mawach Goth for targeted operation against Lyari gangsters.Earlier, about five suspects were taken into custody during a targeted operation in Chenasor Goth and Mehmoodabad areas. Police said that the operation was conducted against the criminals, including extortionists and drug peddlers. The main suspects managed to escape before the raids. Police have detained some five suspects and started investigation.
