SADIQABAD - The newly appointed Punjab governor has termed the PPP future of Pakistan and the strongest political force of the country.

“The people of my constituency are my force and power. I will hand over my authority, resources and power to the people of South Punjab. In the forthcoming general elections, my son Murtaza Mehmoud will be the candidate from NA-197 and Tariq Mehmood will contest from PP-269. My sons made the decision to defect the PML-F and join the PPP for the future of the country,” claimed Syed Ahmad Mehmood during his visit to Sadiqabad.

At the residence of Tariq Mehmood, the candidate, he told the media, “The PML-F leadership ousted us from the party after I became the Punjab governor. I desired that my son Murtaza Mehmood be made Punjab president of the PML-F. According to need of the hour, we defected a small party and join the biggest political party namely PPP.”

He said that in the next National Assembly session, the PPP would table a bill for the restoration of Bahawalpur province thereby showing that the opponents were not well wishers of the country and the region. He said that he had opened the Governor House’ door to the people especially those from South Punjab. He added that the people of his constituency would feel in the Governor House that they themselves were governor as the personnel had been directed in this regard.

“I was not willing to accept the office of governor but in line with the situation, I had to accept the governorship in order to serve the public, and in this way, I raised the Governor House’ importance. Bahawalpur province includes Multan Division consisting of 50 constituencies of National Assembly seats and 125 constituencies of provincial assembly seats. We will be given separate NFC Award. The forthcoming era is of the youth. I am seeing youth in the future politics who will run the country,” he said.

On the occasion, Murtaza Mehmood, Ali Mehmood, Habibur Rehman, Muhktar Ahmad, Bilal Israeel, M Saeed, Sameeullah, Abdul Rauf, M Aslam, Amin Akbar, Farhad Ali, Khalil Ahmad and Salman Mehmood among hundreds of other dignitaries were present.
