LAHORE - PML-N President Nawaz Sharif has said that the Metro Bus Service (MBS) of the Punjab government is a milestone in the transport sector of Pakistan.

Addressing a meeting held in the PML-N secretariat at Model Town, on Tuesday, Nawaz Sharif said the PML-N government in Punjab was working for the betterment of the people.

“The MBS is the best gift to the people by the Punjab government. With the initiation of the project, citizens will avail comfortable, affordable and modern commuting facilities,” Nawaz added.

The PML-N chief said by providing modern travelling facilities of international standard to the common man, the Punjab government had proved itself a government of the masses.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif gave a briefing regarding progress on the project to Nawaz Sharif. Parliamentarians including Ahsan Iqbal, Hamza Shahbaz Sharif, Pervaiz Malik, Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Tariq Azeem, Anusha Rehman, Khawaja Ahmad Hassaan, Khawaja Imran Nazir, Mehr Ishtiaq Ahmad and other leaders of PML-N attended the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said work on the MBS was continuing round the clock and this project was being completed with a missionary zeal. He said in the 65 years history of Pakistan, such a splendid project had never been launched for the common man.

“Metro Bus Service is a step towards making Pakistan a country which was envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal. The elements criticising the project are such who never desired welfare and prosperity of the common man,” the chief minister maintained.

Shahbaz Sharif said such elements did not complete development projects during their own tenure and now were raising hue and cry over the ongoing public welfare projects. He said these elements looted national resources in the name of development projects during their era and filled their own pockets.

The chief minister said these elements would be compelled to keep their mouth shut when the people started availing best travelling facilities with the initiation of the project. He said escalators as well as modern e-ticketing system were being introduced at the metro bus stations for the convenience of the general public along with providing them necessary guidance in this regard. He said metro buses would soon start operating for the benefit of the masses.
