SHEIKHUPURA - Angry mob blocked main Batti Chowk for all kind of traffic for more than two hours against the killing of a man and injuries to his brother in a dacoity here in the remit of City A Division Police on Tuesday.

According to details, three unidentified dacoits entered a shop owned by two brothers - Riaz and Iqbal situated in Mohallah Pir Bahar Shah. The outlaws tried to loot valuables but both the brothers attempted to overpower them. Resultantly the dacoits fired gunshots on them, killing Riaz instantly while Iqbal sustained critical wounds and was rushed to DHQ Hospital. However, due to his critical condition he was referred to a Lahore hospital.

Following the incident, a large number of locals gathered at Main Batti Chowk and blocked the road for more than two hours. The angry mob burnt tyre and chanted slogans against the poor law and order situation in the city. The protesters alleged that the City Circle DSP had no interest in the protection of the lives and honour of the citizens, adding that the police had failed to maintain law and order in the city.  They demanded RPO Zulfiqar Cheema to transfer the DSP immediately.

Meanwhile, DPO Rana Abdul Jabbar reached the spot and restored the traffic. He assured the protesters that the culprits would be arrested at earliest.
