SUP another feather in PML-F’s cap

KARACHI - The Pakistan Muslim League Functional (PML-F) and Sindh United Party (SUP) has decided to contest next general elections jointly and will make seat adjustments in the province.This was decided at a meeting of leaders of PML-F and SUP at Haider Manzil here on Tuesday. The PML-F team led by its general secretary Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh and SUP led by its chief Jalal Mehmood Shah, after negotiations, announced their electoral alliance.Addressing a joint press conference, both the leaders said that the PPP government had failed and people of Sindh were fed up of their policies and they would reject the government party in the next general elections.PML-F leader Imtiaz Shaikh said that his party already accompanied with the SUP and other nationalist groups and they jointly staging protest against local government law. He said that SUP and PML-F would jointly contest the next elections and would indulge in seat adjustment in this regard. It may be noted that PML-F, NPP, PML-N, Awami Tehrik, SUP, STPP, and other parties are part of ‘Sindh Bachayo Committee’. PML-F will likely to negotiate with the other parties for electoral alliance.  The PML-F and SUP leaders said that the regime of incumbent PPP government is the black era in the history of Pakistan. They said Pakistan was burning due to law and order situation, economy at collapse, CNG shortage, rampant corruption, flour shortage and now people are fed up of PPP leadership as well as Zardari, both the leaders noted with concern.They criticised the PPP government and alleged that the criteria of merit being killed. The two leaders said general elections in 2013 will prove to be the last nail in the coffin in the government of PPP Zardari group.Meanwhile, the estranged PML-Q MNA and former federal minister Ghaus Bux Mahar, who already resigned as President of PML-Q Sindh, is likely to announce joining of PML-F.MNA Mahar and his son MPA Shaharyar Mahar along with their groups quit Sindh government over Sindh local government and PML-Q, as they decided to join the PML-F. But formal announcement will be done soon.Meanwhile, Sindh Senior Minister for Education and Literacy Pir Mazharul Haq has said the departmental transfers and postings of teachers would be allowed only during the vacations; this is only to ensure smooth running of academic year.He was speaking at a launch ceremony of the magazine of Government Degree Girls College, Metroville, held on Tuesday. He said to facilitate the female students the education department was providing buses to girls’ colleges. He said that the issues like shortage of teachers and furniture are being fixed.During his visit to the college he directed the section of Engineer Education Works to raise 8-feet high boundary wall around Government Degree Girls College Metroville.Sindh Minister Nadeem Bhutto and College Principal Sheher Bano also spoke.
