Youth sensitised on peace building






ISLAMABAD - A five-day training workshop to sensitise youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) on peace building started here on Tuesday.
The training titled ‘Waging Peace: Piece by Piece’ was organised by Paiman Alumni Trust in collaboration with European Union (EU). The training was aimed to enhance the capacity of communities including youth contribute to building peace in KPK and Fata regions.
Addressing the participants Executive Director PAIMAN, Mossarat Qadeem said, the main emphasis was to provide participants insights into conflict transformation and peace building techniques so that they could engage in mainstream decision-making processes to find effective solutions to disputes at the grassroots levels.    She said, “Youth of KPK and FATA are at the forefront of a courageous struggle to restore peace, democracy and progress in their homeland.” She added that the local youth has tremendous potential for effective leadership and social transformation, which needs to be harnessed by women and policy makers to build community-level and sustainable peace to the region.  Participants expressed their determination to apply alternative ways to resolve disputes in their communities. Designed to build capacity for effectively engaging with local policymakers, students, women hailing from Peshawar and Frontier Region of Peshawar are attending the workshop.
