LAHORE - Chief Minister’s Inspection Team (CMIT) will entertain the applications directly submitted to it by general public, said sources in CMIT on Wednesday.

In the past CMIT used to entertain only those applications referred by Chief Minister, Punjab and others issues received directly were referred to department concerned to take action.  An officer of CMIT seeking anonymity said that it was mentioned in CMIT Rules of Business to entertain all applications but in the past CMIT was only entertaining applications referred by Chief Minister.

Sometimes it happened in the past that habitual applicants sent applications to harass their opponents in different departments and after initiation of inquiry nothing was achieved.  Then CMIT started referring such applications to department concerned and only entertained those applications referred by CM Punjab, said an officer.

He said that now when Chief Minister Punjab returned from his India visit has directed CMIT officers to entertain all applications carrying any weight or sound allegations. “We keeping in view that nature of allegations levelled in application and gravity of the issue entertain it”, said an officer and added that if application carries proper address, ID card copy and contact number of applicant CMIT starts fact finding.

Another officer of CMIT said that newly appointed Chairman CMIT, Maj (Retd) Shah Nawaz Badar has also endorsed the policy of Chief Minister Punjab and asked his team members to provide maximum relief to the general masses.  It merits mentioning here that posting of Chairman CMIT was made some one and half month back and CMIT’s performance has been boosted.

A member of CMIT said that we have received more than 50 applications carrying serious allegations. Most of the applications were against officials of Revenue, Health, Irrigation and Education departments, he added.
