Faisalabad Electricity Supply Company employees observed pen-down strike against proposed privatisation of generation companies and induction of non-technical officials in the distribution company here under the aegis of the Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Central Labour Union here on Wednesday.

They demanded the end to loadshedding and decrease in power rates. Speaking on the occasion, labour union leaders said the protest was nationwide and all aggrieved employees participated in it. They demanded withdrawal of the proposed decision to privatise the Fesco.

POLICE ARREST 16 SUSPECTS: The Gojra Police conducted a raid in village Chak 154/GB and arrested six people who were busy in gambling on the cockfighting here on Wednesday. The police also took a dozen motorcycles into custody.

Meanwhile, the Gojra Police also arrested 10 boys who were gambling through billiard game in New Plots locality on Toba Road. The police also took thousands of rupees into custody which were used for gambling.

Meanwhile, The City Police registered a case on under section 25-D of Telegraph Act against unidentified person on the charge of using abusive language to a court employees on repeated telephone calls to him and his wife. Complainant Muhammad Afzal Reader to Civil Judge Saifullah Babar told the police that accused also sent abusive SMSs to him and his wife.
