Islamabad - Islamabad police on Thursday arrested 60 suspects during search operations in various areas of the city, a police spokesman said.

IGP Tahir Alam Khan has directed all SDPOs and SHOs to enhance patrolling as well as checking in various areas of the city and conduct search operations in slum areas, Afghan habitats, under-construction buildings, workshops, bus stands and inns. Following his directions, sub-divisional police officers performing in Islamabad headed search operations in the areas of Margalla, Shalimar, Golra, Tarnol and Noon police stations. Police teams conducted search in the area of G-9, F-11, G-12, G-13, G-14, Chungi # 26, Ittefaq Colony, Jhangi Syedan and under-construction buildings as well as plazas there. They succeeded to nab 60 suspects who are being investigated further.

Furthermore, Sabzi Mandi police have arrested a dacoit allegedly involved in killing a person and injuring two policemen. According to details, SP Industrial Area Liaqat Hayat Niazi assigned the task to SHO Sabzi Mandi police station to arrest the culprit involved in killing a person and injuring two policemen Sajid and Farooq from Eagle Squad at IJ Principal Road during checking a few months ago.

Police team was also assigned task to unearth those perpetrators who killed a person during dacoity near Bokra and injuring a person in an attempt to snatch cash from him.

This team accelerated efforts to arrest the criminal and succeeded to arrest Ehsan alias Laiq, resident of Rawalpindi, who confessed to commit all these crimes. Further investigation is underway from him.

The SSP has said the purpose of this search operation and high vigilance is to ensure foolproof security in the city. He has also appealed to the citizens to remain vigilant.
