PESHAWAR - District administration Kohat Thursday suspended three government employees and sent them to jail for their failure to report a polio refusal case to relevant quarters.
Official sources said that a poliovirus was confirmed in a 5-year-old boy Muhammad son of Maulana Yousaf, residents of Doda village in Kohat district. They informed the parents of the affected kid had refused to vaccinate their son. The district administration while taking action ordered an inquiry into the incident.
According to the inquiry report, Maulana Yousaf had refused to vaccinate his son against poliovirus but the anti-polio team did not report the refusal case to relevant quarters.
Therefore, the sources said that the district administration suspended two technicians of health department Shahzad Mir and Zir Janan and patwari Mohsin Iqbal of the area. After their suspension, they said the employees were arrested and sent to Dera Ismail Khan Jail.
The father of the victim was also arrested under 3MPO as the provincial government has decided to take legal action against those parents who refused to vaccinate their children.
