LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the whole nation is united and determined to root out terrorism and political, religious and military leadership is on one page in the war against this menace.

Talking to assembly members of various districts, the chief minister said that the war against terrorism would be won with the force of unity and mutual consultation and the country would be rid of terrorists forever.

He said that effective measures have been taken in the province under national action plan against terrorism.

The chief minister said that Pakistanis had rendered supreme sacrifices in the war against terrorism and the efforts made by the people of the country for the elimination of terrorism will not go in vain.

He said that terrorism will be eliminated from Pakistan and it will be made a haven of peace and harmony. Shahbaz Sharif said that Pakistan is facing extraordinary situation and it requires extraordinary measures. He said that national action plan is a consensus formula to root out terrorists and its implementation will help overcome the problem of terrorism.

He said that terrorists and their facilitators will find no place to hide and the promise of giving a safe and peaceful Pakistan to the coming generations will be fulfilled at any cost. The elected representatives who met the Chief Minister included Muhammad Afzal Khokhar, Nasir Bosal, Karam Elahi Bandiyal and Mehdi Abbas Khan. Member Provincial Assembly Mansha Ullah Butt was also present on the occasion.

CM FOR CHANGING FODDER MACHINE DESIGN: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the incidents of chopping of human hands accidently by fodder cutting machines is tragic and there is need for paying due attention to security features in the design of these machines to prevent such incidents.

He said that all concerned departments will have to work with mutual coordination for checking these incidents. He was addressing a meeting at Civil Secretariat through video link, here yesterday.

The meeting reviewed the recommendations to control the incidents of cutting of human hands with fodder cutting machines. The Chief Minister said that necessary changes should be made in the machine with regard to ensuring safety of the cultivators and concerned departments should take necessary steps in this regard.

He said that Punjab government is ready to give subsidy on the installation of security equipments in these machines, however a practicable model should be evolved. He said that proposals should be finalized in consultation with all stakeholders and a plan evolved for implementation.

Shahbaz Sharif said that manufacturers will have to be bound to install safety equipments in fodder cutting machines and necessary amendments in the law should also be considered. He said that flaws in the fodder cutting machines should be removed at the earliest so as to save cultivators from such accidents.

The chief minister further directed that a complete protocol should be evolved for the protection of sprayers of insecticides on crops. He said that protective measures are needed to save the people from ill affects of insecticides and a safety protocol should be evolved and its strict implementation should be ensured.

He said that protection of people from such incidents is the vital importance. Shahbaz Sharif directed to the experts of Agri University Faisalabad, University of Engineering & Technology Lahore and stakeholders should be consulted and final recommendations be presented within two weeks.
