Islamabad - The newly elected President of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council constituted a committee to monitor and look after the conduct of National Examination Board (NEB), an equivalency examination mandatory for all the foreign medical graduates.
The forthcoming step-III examination is scheduled to be held on 11-13th February 2016 under collaboration with the University of Health Sciences, Lahore.
President PM&DC Prof Dr Shabeer Lehri said that there is a dire need to improve the working of PM&DC and there will be zero tolerance for corruption in the organisation and the affairs of the PM&DC will be streamlined on merit and transparency at every level.
He further said the monitoring committee comprised very professional members including Prof Dr Mehmood Shaukat (Principal, Allama Iqbal Medical College Lahore), Prof Dr Sardar Fakhar Imam (Vice Chancellor Fatima Jinnah Medical University Lahore) and Prof Dr Kamran Salick (Principal Nistar Medical College Multan).
He said the committee would supervise and make liaison with the concerned university regarding conduct of the examination in transparent manner. The committee shall ensure that the format of NEB examination step-III must be patient-based and clinical-oriented so that the assessment and the clinical competency/ knowledge of the candidates can be judged in a better way. The committee will also ensure transparent compilation of the results and will arrange the lists of credible examiners in all the relevant subjects for the examination.
The President PM&DC also said he had visited every section of PM&DC along with Dr Amir Hussain Bendesha, member Executive Committee, to check the problems and issues being faced by the doctors and staff.
He emphasised that no nepotism or grouping will be tolerated in the office. “Office of the president will remain open to all the employees, and doctors are always welcome to discuss their problems.”
He also pledged to make PM&DC a very vibrant, effective and user-friendly institution for the medical and dental practitioners of the country.
