I was shocked to read a column headed ‘Solar energy an alternate way to overcome crisis’. The writer has said that a hydroelectric power project will take ten years to accomplish, while the solar power system will take two to three years. He seems to be suggesting that solar power is a substitute for hydel power.
But will it give us water. Where would Pakistan’s agriculture be if Mangla and Tarbela dams had not been built. Mangla dam is paying back every year twice its total construction cost and Tarbela dam is paying back every year its total construction cost.
